Overview

This 3-part intensive will provide a deep dive on the topics of health center board composition, recruitment, and orientation. Participants will learn about good governance practices, discuss pain points and solutions, as well as apply tools (e.g., board composition matrix, board orientation agenda templates) to enhance their own board’s practices in these areas. Participants will utilize the soon to be released Board Orientation Toolkit during the training to create plans they can implement with their boards after the training to onboard new board members.

Objectives

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

• Analyze their board’s current composition and determine the skills and backgrounds needed to address identified gaps and align with compliance requirements
• Devise a board member recruitment plan that integrates good practices for finding, vetting, and building a pipeline of board candidates
• Develop a board orientation plan (or update an existing orientation program) based on leading practices for orienting board members

Best suited for Health Center Board Members, CEOs, Governance or Nominating Committee members from boards that want to enhance their recruitment and orientation practices.
