HR Operations Office Hour: Expert Insights & Practical Guidance

Overview
This HR Operations Office Hour is an expert led session for health center HR and Operations leaders to explore how the HR “operating system” (staffing models, policies, data, and manager practices) shapes reliable day-to-day operations. This session blends concise expert insights with guided discussion, live pulse checks, and peer exchange to surface pain points and highlight what is working across organizations. Final topic emphasis will be selected in collaboration with faculty, and may include recruiting and selection, onboarding, role design and competencies, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and workforce analytics, manager enablement, and retention and engagement.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this office-hour, the participants will be able to:
- Understand how HR operating models, policies, and data shape access, productivity, and employee experience in CHC’s.
- Recognize common HR operational bottlenecks across the recruitment/ hiring cycle (recruiting, onboarding, development, retention)
- Interpret foundational HR metrics (time-to-fill, 90-day retention, onboarding cycle time, vacancy rate, manager span, etc.)
- Examine role clarity and competency frameworks in promoting consistent performance
- Discuss manager practices (coaching, feedback, communication) and their relationship to team culture and outcomes
- Consider change management principles for policy and process updates that reduce ambiguity and risk.
