- York, L., Douglas, Ph.D., M.P.H.
Douglas L. York, Ph.D., M.P.H. is a healthcare Executive with a career highlighted by his
leadership of hospitals, health centers, and public and private provider corporations serving as the
executive for leading trauma centers, general hospitals, as well as behavioral and correctional healthcare
facilities. Concurrent with these positions, he works with national health & hospital and physician
membership organizations on public health policy development and implementation.
Dr. York is presently the President & Chief Executive Officer of Union Community Health
Center, one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Centers in NYS and a long-standing high-volume
provider of comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, physical rehabilitation, and medical
specialty services with five physical locations and mobile medical and dental units deployed throughout
Bronx, New York.
He is an active faculty member in both the medical school and school of health policy and practice
at New York Medical College educating graduate and medical students regarding the clinical
management, financial, regulatory, and social issues associated with the U.S. healthcare system. Dr. York
serves on the Board of Directors and Committees for the Community Health Care Association of New
York State and the National Association of Community Health Centers. He collaborates directly with
local, state, and federal elected officials on public health policy and financing issues frequently providing
audiences with pre and post impact assessments. Dr. York has worked directly with the Department of
Veterans Affairs and has participated in several White House Task Forces for special populations. Dr.
York also serves as a Health Commissioner for the City of Stamford, Connecticut.
Dr. York holds a Bachelor’s Degree (BBA) in Management and Finance from Pace University, a
Master of Public Health Degree (MPH) from New York Medical College, and a Doctoral degree (PhD) in
Sciences and Strategic Management from Pace University.
